Florence, May 17th - (Adnkronos) - The research and studies by Matteo Poggi and Leonardo Bucciardini, the two authors of ''San Niccolo' al Ceppo: l'enigma insoluto. Paolo Uccello, Beato Angelico e le Confraternite fiorentine'' [San Niccolo' al Ceppo: the unsolved mystery. Paolo Uccello, Beato Angelico and the Florentine Confraternities] (Caminito Editrice, Florence), lasted two years. The book refutes the attribution to Beato Angelico, or to his school, of the Crucifixion on wood situated in the Confraternity of San Niccolo' al Ceppo in Florence. The two Florentine researchers discovered, on the premises of the Confraternity, two Napoleonic inventories in which the painting is attributed to Paolo Uccello. The two inventories are, among other things, the only official documents that speak of the painting.
